Operation: Cancer Busters Standing with Thayne’s Tribe!
“We’re ready to believe you!”
Ghostbusters: Texas Rangers Division has been officially recruited for a high-priority mission. We’ve been called to action by Fernando, the father of a true hero named Thayne, to serve as the frontline defense for Thayne’s Tribe at this year’s The Blast.
Our team usually spends its time celebrating the supernatural, but this March, we are focusing on a real-world battle. This year’s theme is "Cancer Busters," and we are honored to stand alongside a survivor who has already proven that no matter how scary the "ghosts" are, they can be busted.
Why We Are Walking
Thayne’s journey is one of incredible resilience. At just one year old, he faced a one-in-a-million neurological disorder called Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome (OMS), linked to Neuroblastoma. The battle was grueling—Thayne lost his ability to walk and speak, undergoing 18 months of intense therapy, including chemotherapy, stem-cell retrieval, and bone marrow transplants right here at Cook Children’s Medical Center.
On October 15, 2019, Thayne won his fight. Today, he is 10 years old and over 6 years cancer-free! We are marching to celebrate his victory and to ensure that every child currently in the wards at Cook Children’s has the same chance to become a survivor.
Our Goal
As a Texas non-profit dedicated to community service, Ghostbusters: Texas Rangers Division is raising funds to support pediatric cancer research and patient care. 100% of the donations made to this page go directly to the Cook Children’s Health Foundation.
How You Can Help
We need your backup! Your donation helps us hit our team goal and ensures our Division members can cross the starting line on March 28th at Panther Island Pavilion. Whether it’s $5 or $50, every bit of "fuel" helps us get the gear on the trail for the kids.
Help us show the world that when it comes to childhood cancer… we ain’t afraid of no ghosts!
Thank you for supporting Ghostbusters: Texas Rangers Division and Thayne’s Tribe. ---
About The Blast and Cook Children’s: The Blast will launch from Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth on Saturday, March 28, 2026. This community walk event celebrates and remembers children affected by cancer and their families. Funds raised through The Blast directly benefit research, treatment and care for all cancers at Cook Children’s, a leading institution in the fight against childhood cancer. It’s your turn to sign up, donate, and show up, to tell Cook Children’s patients and their families that they’ll never walk alone.
