Welcome to my Blast page!
Blast walk round 5!! Here Team Mighty Makenzie comes! I can’t believe this will be our fifth year walking at The Blast!
Over the last four years Makenzie has raised more than $50,000 for Cook Childrens at the Blast walk. We are so thankful for our Village and Cannot wait to see you all out there again March 28th 2026.
We had almost 100 team members last year! Can we reach that 100 mark this year? If you can’t make it to the actual walk, you can still join her team and help her reach her 100 teammate goal! You can join her team by selecting Mighty Makenzie on this page and it will take you to our team page where it says “Join Team”
If you would just like to donate, hit the donate button above and it will count towards our teams goal!
Makenzie was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Langerhans cell Histiocytosis in April of 2021. Since receiving her diagnosis she has come such a long way! She has gone through chemo, 11 surgeries, a few neck braces, wearing a HALO for 7 months, wound care, physical therapy, countless appointments and days spent at the hospital... but has had clean scans since 2022!!
So much is unknown about her type of cancer and it is so rare that there is little funding for research.. There is no cure.. She currently takes a daily chemo pill in order to keep the LCH at bay until science catches up and figures out a better solution.
The Blast walk is amazing because it raises money for children at Cook Childrens like Makenzie and funds research, clinical trials, family support and gets us one step closer to finding a cure!
Thank you all for everything. We love and appreciate each and every one of you!
About The Blast and Cook Children’s: The Blast will launch from Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth on Saturday, March 28, 2026. This community walk event celebrates and remembers children affected by cancer and their families. Funds raised through The Blast directly benefit research, treatment and care for all cancers at Cook Children’s, a leading institution in the fight against childhood cancer. It’s your turn to sign up, donate, and show up, to tell Cook Children’s patients and their families that they’ll never walk alone.
