Hello!

Thank you so much for making your way here for a cause that is very near to myself and my dad. On June 22nd, 2016 we lost my mom due to complications from Lupus and since then we have partnered with Cook Children's to do what we can to bring awareness to the disease and generate what support we can for children and their families dealing with it.

Lupus is a chronic disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body. It affects your autoimmune system that would otherwise fight infections in your body but instead causes your body to attack healthy tissue instead. It is treatable, but not curable and those affected by the disease can suffer from deadly consequences when contracting even a common cold. It is also hereditary wherein you can be predisposed to the disease and risks of triggering the disease can come from sun exposure, infection, injury and even being overworked. Notably, the disease can also be recognized visually by a prominent butterfly pattern rash that affects some patients which spans across the face in the nose/cheek area. This is also why a butterfly is typically used to symbolize awareness for the disease.

Even the smallest dollar amount that you feel willing to give is more than enough to provide support and aid for children and their families navigating this complicated disease.
