The Summer Scorcher Adult Charity Tennis Tournament, benefiting Cook Children's NICU, was inspired by the daughter of tennis professional, Shawn Wooley, and his tennis playing wife, Kelly's, miracle baby, Avery. Avery was born 14 weeks early on March 14, 2014, weighing 1 1b. 5 oz., and endured a 234 NICU stay where her survival was uncertain at several points during her stay. If it weren’t for the incredible staff and life-saving technology at Cook Children’s, Avery would not be the thriving, spunky tennis loving eight-year-old she is today.    

And while Avery is the inspiration behind the Summer Scorcher, the Wooley family knows that her story is one of many miracles that occurs in Cook Children's NICU on a daily basis. 

We couldn't be more excited about this year's tournament, our seventh annual, as this will be our year to exceed $100,000 in proceeds!
