Hello, my name is Steve Lehr.  I will soon be the proud husband of Nicole Parker, in part, because Cook Children’s Medical Center saved her life when she was a child. At five years old, Nicole and her mother, Veronica, were seriously injured in a head-on car collision, and Nicole’s survival was in question. While hospitalized for several weeks, Nicole endured close calls, multiple surgeries, and painful rehabilitation. But by the grace of God, and because of the amazing care she received at Cook Children's, that terrible crash was not the end of her story.  Nicole survived and now thrives due to the efforts of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Cook Children’s Medical Center, and the love and prayer of her amazing family. 

Walking down the aisle in front of our family and friends is one more chapter in a beautiful story that almost ended too soon. Cook Children's Medical Center saved Nicole and made our story possible; for that, I am eternally grateful.
