Families come to Child Study Center at Cook Children’s with questions.
“Why is my child behaving so differently from his peers?
“Why isn’t my child hitting her developmental milestones?”
“My child is struggling academically. How can I help her succeed?”
“What kind of help is there for me, as a parent?”
Not being able to find answers about a child’s developmental struggles can be stressful and leave families feeling helpless. The world-class staff and caregivers at CSC know this, and work tirelessly to provide families with the answers to these questions.
For more than 50 years, Child Study Center has provided children with developmental and behavioral challenges with diagnoses and treatment, as well as education. CSC embraces the fact that these challenges are frequently multi-dimensional and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. By focusing on a child in the context of his or her complete environment, CSC specialists work closely with parents using evidenced-based, scientifically validated methods to bring a child's full potential to light. For some kids, a milestone may be saying “I love you” to a parent for the first time or being able to visit the grocery store without distress.

Approximately two-thirds of the children seen at CSC are from low-to-moderate income families. Because services for children with complex developmental disabilities are expensive (they can total $10 million over the course of a child’s life,) lack of funding can be a barrier to these children receiving quality care and services and reaching their full potential. Success for some children may be returning to a traditional school environment and thriving amongst their peers. For others, it can mean learning the skills to allow them to live independently.
For almost 25 years, Fort Worth has supported CSC through this annual fundraising event. Party on the Patio is an opportunity for our community to gather for a night of fun with a purpose! Traditionally held in the late spring at Joe T. Garcia’s, the party features an auction, wine pull, plus delicious food and drinks. Most importantly, at Party on the Patio, you will learn about CSC’s vital work benefiting children with developmental and behavioral challenges.
By supporting Party on the Patio, you are saying that you believe in these children and their ability to reach their full potential. You are saying that you care deeply about the work being done at CSC by our world-class staff and that you want to be a part of it! From developmental pediatrics, to applied behavior analysis, to the Jane Justin School—the work going on across our center would not be possible without the support of donors like you. Thank you!
